We have survived (are surviving) the first official blizzard I have seen since moving to the Great Plains. My husband, who grew up here, doesn't remember weather like this since he was a boy. Although we only got an additional inch or two of snow, it has been blowing like crazy and the wind has been sculpting rock hard drifts all over our yard, driveway, and the roads (some of which are still closed in our area). Thankful that we spent money and time fixing our 4WD diesel last year, Adam has been able to slowly get back and forth to work for the past two days. Wait, didn't I say the roads around here are closed? Well, technically they are (and for good reason), but that won't stop my husband, traveling on the gravel roads to get around the police barricades where necessary. He really is a great driver in all weather conditions, and he made his 40-mile commute safely, even helping others, only to get stuck at the end of our driveway last night. Fortunately, we had decided to buy a discounted snowplow for the tractor the day before this winter storm hit. Adam picked it up on his way home on Thursday afternoon (that gave him some extra weight to make it home) and has been having fun keeping the driveway cleared. The girls went out to climb the "
snow mountains" this morning with one of our friends, and I braved the cold for a few moments to snap some photos for the memory book.

Golly, it sure looks like a fun time out there. It was 80 degrees here today. Sigh. I miss the snow.
