wonderful winter

It has been a beautiful winter. We got about 10 inches of snow in the first two weeks of December, gently falling, softly piling up, layer upon layer of fresh white powder. The temperatures have been cold enough to keep it frozen, and warm enough for the kids to go outside every day to play in it. I've even strapped Stephen in his ERGO with a pair of mittens and a fleece hat, and zipped my coat up around him to go outside and enjoy the beautifully calm, sunny days.

Since Christmas, it has been a little colder, but the kids have still gone out in the snow to play briefly a few times. We've only gotten about two more inches of snow to freshen up the landscape; this snow has been hanging around for a month! Catherine and I had a lot of fun building a mini-snowman and playing on the snowdrift along our driveway last week:

Those are great photos! Brett noticed the snow drifts when we went to your house last week. He followed them with his eyes and when we passed them he tried to look back at them. I was kind of wondering if you were going to get some good pictures of them. And it looks as though you have:)

Snow looks like so much fun! You'll have to play more in it and build a snowman for me, 'cause we don't get any down here.
