This wildflower of the Aster family has interesting foliage, and the yellow button flowers, which fascinate the kids every year, complement my tiger lilies while they are growing upright. As the season continues and the plants mature, however, they fall over and look terrible. Although it has some edible and medicinal value, it is poisonous in large quantities and and acts as an abortifacient. That, alone makes me want to get rid of it, but it sounds like that can't be done mechanically, and I'm hesitant to use herbicides in my garden. It's other uses are interesting and I may test its use as an insecticide / repellent by strewing it around the vegetable garden. If all else fails, it will add minerals to our compost heap later this summer when it starts to look leggy.
