thunderstorms

Last night we had thunder and lightning and heavy rain. We are expecting more tonight. It is a perfect day to read: The Real Princess (The Princess and the Pea): "One evening there was a terrible storm; it thundered and lightninged and the rain poured down in torrents; indeed it was a fearful night."

(Check out the other illustrated stories and poems on this small, but beautiful site! There are a lot of good ones for little kids - some are for older children, though. I won't be reading Bluebeard aloud, for example.)

Anyway, I printed out the story for Teresa to read along with one of our *saved* free Dover Publications Sampler pages from the Favorite Fairy Tales Coloring Book by Fran Newman-D'Amico to color...it's not exactly Dulac, but there are twenty mattresses to count and color:
