butterfly hunt

We observed a bunch of bumblebees buzzing around the Creeping Charlie as well as many small brown sphinx moths (Sphingidae, also called hawk moths or hummingbird moths). We saw a lot of Red Admirals, and this Tiger Swallowtail butterfly on the Dame's Rocket.

(Note the new link in A Few of My Favorite Places, Discover Life. This is a work in progress, but is a great resource, so far. The ID Nature Guides on this site as well as Links to Other Sites for each category under All Living Things are helpful in identifying butterflies, birds, wildflowers, etc...)

Although Anthony didn't participate in the great butterfly hunt with us, I had to include this picture of him being a boy: toy pliers in hand, covered with dirt, "fixing" the propane tank, which rewarded him with many resounding clangs.
