a story of mercy

Yesterday I read, cover to cover, Left to Tell by Immaculee Ilibagiza. I'd requested that our library buy this book last year. As soon as it was put on the shelf last February, it was checked out (by someone else). I should have put a hold on it because it was immediately checked out again, but I was happy to find it on the shelf waiting for me last week...but over and over again, I didn't have time to start reading it. God knew that I needed to read this book on Divine Mercy Sunday. Immaculee illustrates the Divine Mercy message so clearly through her story.

"The Divine Mercy message is one we can call to mind simply by remembering ABC:

A - Ask for His Mercy. God wants us to approach Him in prayer constantly, repenting of our sins and asking Him to pour His mercy out upon us and upon the whole world.

B - Be merciful. God wants us to receive His mercy and let it flow through us to others. He wants us to extend love and forgiveness to others just as He does to us.

C - Completely trust in Jesus. God wants us to know that the graces of His mercy are dependent upon our trust. The more we trust in Jesus, the more we will receive." (from the Congregation of Marians of the Immaculate Conception Divine Mercy Message and Devotion)

"Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy." (Diary, 699)

Immaculee found that peace. It is what she desires for Rwanda, for the world. She writes about it beautifully in her book. Read it.
