This is a Rubber Plant: Ficus Elastica. I tried to find out if it was poisonous...but am left wondering. Some sites, like Wikipedia say the "sap is also an irritant to the eyes and skin and can be fatal if taken internally";
This list of Toxic Plants from the University of California gives it a Toxicity Class of 4: Dermatitis: "The juice, sap, or thorns of these plants may cause a skin rash or irritation. Wash the affected area of skin with soap and water as soon as possible after contact. The rashes may be very serious and painful. Call the Poison Control Center or your doctor if symptoms appear following contact with the plants."; but
The University of Nebraska lists it as Non-Toxic in FactSheet 031-91. "These plants have shown no more toxicity than an equal amount of vegetable matter. Symptoms are unlikely."

Stephen is not. Anthony could have pulled the branch down, but Teresa (my number one suspect) fessed up. I don't know what to do with that girl. She is always putting things in her mouth...chewing...biting. I'm wondering if it's more than a "boredom" thing but some kind of (oral) sensory integration problem.
