this and that

Adam went fishing tonight with a friend, his brother (who is a priest), and their brother-in-law who just returned to town this week after serving our country in the Army. The lilacs are blooming, after all. So, I'm catching up on pictures and trying to upload a movie, once again.

Here is a picture of Teresa with a basket of eggs. You may notice a "new" building in the background. We moved it from a neighbor/friends' property to house our 150 Cornish Rock broilers. We almost have our garage back!

Stephen had the joy of experiencing the wind in his hair - and his mouth - as we drove into town to teach Catherine how to ride her bike in a parking lot (rather than on our bumpy gravel driveway).

We used Teresa's smaller bike to begin. Adam started by taking off the pedals and focusing on balance.

It wasn't long before she was ready to try with the pedals back on.

Now, we just have to work on turning.

I don't have pictures, but Catherine easily transferred her experience in town to riding at home and is practicing on her own, bigger, bike. Teresa decided it was time for her to learn, as well, and refused to have the training wheels put back on her bike. She balances well and can pedal straight for short distances. Fortunately, we have a long driveway bordered with lots of soft grass. Here is a short video of Catherine riding all by herself.

(You may want to pause the video for a minute so it plays smoothly. The first time I played it, it was very choppy, but it played perfectly the second.)
