I had the kids pick up shoes and boots around the porch the other day except for the one that had this huge spider with baby spiders all over it's back on it. I took the shoe, cleaned it out, and set it up on a porch pillar to dry out in the sun. The next morning I came outside to see that the spider had found and reclaimed the shoe, having re-made a nest inside for all those baby spiders.
Later that day, after trying to ID the spider from this picture unsuccessfully (wow - spider identification can be pretty tricky!), I went back to try and get a better picture, but one of the kids had knocked the shoe off the porch (again) and all the spiders were gone...
